The Car: Lancia Delta Integrale

The Driver: Gareth Shipley

The Desire

It was inevitable that I would always look for the car that was ‘different’ when I was born my parents had a V8 Ford Pilot, at seven they replaced that with an Allard followed by Mini Cooper S, E Type, MGC, Alfa 1750 Sprint the list goes on. So when the Integrale was brought out following the demise of Group B and the Delta S4, I had to have one, unlike many people who have the same dream, 25 years later after a few glasses of red wine trawling Ebay I found it, semi prepared for sprints and hillclimbs, but never used as he prefered his Fiat 128 and Alfa GTV6… looked good in the photos, so of to Guilford to have a look…. SOLD !
The car was not as well prepared as initially thought, the bodyshell and paintwork were in outstanding condition for a 25 year old car, and the engine was fresh, but the roll cage and fuel system needed re-installing to meet current regulations, this was sorted so off to my first event in Anglesey.
